At BEIJING OLYMPIC BROADCASTING (BOB), the goal is to convey this passion by capturing the speed, strength, skill, and spirit inherent in Olympic competition. Each Olympic sport provides a unique set of broadcast challenges which we seek to overcome through the use of the very latest technology. Our coverage aims to encapsulate the tension and emotion of the Olympic arena and transfer this to an audience of billions by bringing the viewer closer to the action than ever before.
BOB is a joint venture company established by Olympic Broadcast Services (Host Broadcaster of the IOC) and the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) to serve as the Host Broadcaster of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. As Host Broadcaster, BOB is responsible for producing and distributing impartial radio and television coverage throughout the Games, as well as providing additional facilities and services to the world’s Rights Holding Broadcasters who will descend on Beijing in 2008.
The BOB team is a combination of leaders in the fields of television and radio from around the world working with highly qualified and competent local employees. We look for the same passion in those who join us as those you see through our pictures.

Broadcast Telecommunications
Within the Technical Operations and Engineering department, Broadcast Telecommunications is responsible for planning, designing, engineering, installing and operating the Host Broadcast Contribution Network between all Venues and the IBC for the Video and associated Audio (VandA) connectivity as well as for the Commentary and Coordination lines and other control and command circuits. Additionally, Broadcast Telecommunications coordinates the RF planning activities with respect to BOB and RHB needs for their Intra-Venue and Wide-Area frequency requirements, maintains the relation to the relevant authorities through BOCOG and advises BOCOG regarding the RF related operational requirements of BOB and of the RHBs. Broadcast Telecommuni¬cations coordinates the supply of broadcast telecommunication equipment and services from 3rd party suppliers to BOB, supervises the systems implementation process of the contribution and production commu¬nications network, facilitates the Rights Holder’s technical requirements with respect to their unilateral circuits.
Job Objectives:
The Fiber Optic Termination Technician is responsible for the installation, splicing, termination and testing of fiber optic cabling and other types of cables for broadcasting installations. He or she will assist with broadcast and fiber optic equipment installation and testing and fiber networks commissioning under engineering supervision and guidance.
Duties/Responsibilities
• Installation, splicing, termination and testing of fiber optic cabling.
• Installation, termination and testing of broadcasting type of cables (video, audio, data, etc)
• Installation under engineering supervision and guidance of video, audio and fiber optics equipment in the process of implementing broadcasting systems to support the contribution network.
• Support the engineering team in the testing of the broadcasting systems.
• Support the engineering team in the commissioning of the fiber optic network between Olympic Venues and IBC.
Knowledge/Skills
• Experience in handling, terminating, splicing and testing fiber optic cables is a must.
• Experience in broadcasting installations is an advantage.
Additional Requirements
• Fluent in English; knowledge in Chinese (Mandarin) is a significant asset
• Willing to join an international and dynamic team and able to work to accomplish tight deadlines.
