The successful candidate will be part of a team focused on the development and integration of radio protocol stack software for standardized wireless technologies, particularly TD-SCDMA,UMTS, GSM/GPRS/EDGE/E-EDGE. The position will require interfacing with the hardware development team for software driver support, schematic reviews and debugging, developing and integrating hardware specific calibration methods and supporting RF certification and conformance testing activities. The position will also involve debugging, integration and testing of radio protocol software. Comprehensive understanding of radio physical layer, signal processing, interaction between physical layer and upper layers (RRC, RLC, MAC) is essential. The candidate will be responsible for investigating and resolving integration and performance related issues within the radio software stack.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Embedded software development on microcontroller and DSPs cores in C, C and assembly
* Designing and implementing Physical layer software for TD-SCDMA, GSM, and/or UMTS protocol stacks
* Designing and implementing data paths that span multiple, heterogeneous cores
* Developing drivers for hardware accelerators and co-processors
* Designing multi-threaded systems to meet real-time constraints
* Troubleshooting low-level issues such as crashes, memory corruption, performance bottlenecks and race conditions
* Optimizing code and data for size and speed
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
* A minimum of a BSEE, BSCE, BSCS, or equivalent
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in embedded software development and integration on DSP or MCU with C, C , assembly for TD-SCDMA, GSM/GPRS/EDGE and/or UMTS
* Minimum 5 years experience in L1 baseband control signaling, scheduling of signal processing tasks and interfacing to RF HW
* Experience of upper layer protocols including RRC, RLC, MAC
* Understanding of RF hardware programming, analog/digital hardware, radio components in RF chain and associated control loop algorithms (AFC, AGC, APC)
* Experience producing memory management designs including overlays, buffering, caching, DMA access, bus latency and internal memory assignment, threads, thread priorities and ISRs
* Real-time OS firmware development environment and debugging on multi-processor hardware architectures
* Knowledge of DSP algorithms and DSP processor architectures
* Lab experience using embedded debuggers, test equipment (base station simulators), logging equipment or S/W diagnostic tools
* Experience with version control software tools
* Good communication (oral and written) skills both in English and Chinese
ADDITIONAL ASSETS
* Experience in protocol stack lab, certification and/or field testing of L1
* Knowledge of upper layer protocol design and testing
* Experience with Matlab and Java
